THE SHELL POINT OPEN CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT WAS A HUGE SUCCESS

The 9TH Annual Charity Shell Point Open Raised $24,000

The 9th Annual Shell Point Open Charity Golf Tournament, raised $24,000 that will benefit the Waterside Medical Complex which offers medical and healthcare services to residents of Shell Point and the surrounding local community. This complex includes the Larsen Pavilion (a 219 bed skilled nursing facility), a state-of-art rehabilitation center, and many more healthcare services.

“This was our 9th year hosting the Shell Point Open,” said Timothy Stephenson, executive director of the Legacy Foundation. “Golfers and sponsors alike continue to support and enjoy this tournament each year because of developing lifelong friendships, and the opportunity to help with a worthwhile cause. This tournament is just one way that we can help individuals receive the best healthcare possible, while also having some fun.” The tournament took place on Friday, November 9, 2012, at the Shell Point Golf Club, and welcomed nearly 100 golfers who had a great time. UBS Financial Services Inc., The Scoggins/Moreland Group, graciously served as the title sponsor for the event, with this being their 6th year as the title sponsor. The corporate sponsors included Wright Construction; The Alliance Development Fund; Investor’s Security Trust Company; Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral Home; and Alexander & Hoover, CPA’s, PA.

Story PhotoStory PhotoThe Shell Point Golf Club is an 18-hole Championship Golf Course that opened in 2000 and was designed by Gordon Lewis. The course offers a grass driving range and practice green, lessons, a fully-stocked pro shop and snack bar, and all the course golf carts are equipped with Uplink GPS monitors. The course is open to the public, and is located at the entrance to Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers, Florida, just off Summerlin Road, two miles before the Sanibel Island Causeway.
