SHELL POINT INVITES SOUTHWEST FLORIDA TO ATTEND QUILT SHOW

FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 23, 2011) – The annual Shell Point Quilt Show will be open to the public again this year, for the second time since it began 27 years ago. This show will take place from Saturday, April 9, through Monday, April 11. The resident Quilters Committee invites the public to view the many sizes and varieties of hand crafted quilts on display, including quilts based on the Americana theme. “This year’s event will be spectacular,” said Jean Arndt, Shell Point resident and Quilt Show Chairperson. “We are inviting the public to view heirloom quilts on loan, quilters’ demonstrations, and new quilts focused on an Americana theme.” Jean Arndt adds, “We are also encouraging the public to vote for our quilters’ challenge winner!”

The 2011 Shell Point Quilt Show will be held inside the Social Center on The Island at Shell Point on Saturday, April 9, from 10am to 4pm; Sunday, April 10, from noon to 4pm; and Monday, April 11, from 10am to 4pm. In addition to the quilts on display, visitors will have the opportunity to listen to music created and performed by Shell Point residents while perusing the orchids from the Shell Point Orchid House. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, please call Melody Desilets, program coordinator at (239) 454-2057.
