Shell Point Hosts 12th Annual Open House Public Invited to Stroll Through Decades of Past Century

(January 21, 2008) – Shell Point Retirement Community will open its doors for the 12th annual Open House on Thursday, January 31, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  This event is free and open to the public.

According to Lynn Schneider, assistant vice president of marketing, the theme of this year’s Open House will be “A Stroll through the Decades.”

“The entire community will be decorated to reflect the different eras of the last 100 years,” said Schneider.

Steve Morton, Landscape Manager at Shell Point, and members of his Landscape Planning Team are constructing a Floral Clock for the Through the Decades Open House event at Shell PointAmong the eras to be depicted will be the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair, which will be set up in the community park on The Island and will include several items that were originated at the World’s Fair including a Ferris wheel, floral clock, and perfume fountain.  Shell Point’s newest neighborhood, Eagles Preserve will be the site  of the 1930s Old West with a chuck wagon of refreshments and country music.  Additionally, there will be a nod to the Roaring Twenties; the big band era of the fabulous 40s; and to sock-hopping 50s, the Beach-Boy style 60s, and much more.

Standing Room Only For Presidential Candidate Rudy Giuliani During Visit To Shell Point

FORT MYERS, FL (January 15, 2008) – It was standing room only when Republican Presidential Candidate Rudy Giuliani stopped by Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers, Florida on Monday, January 14, at approximately noon to host a Town Hall Community Forum.  More than 1,100 people attended this event which was held at the Village Church at Shell Point Retirement Community.
 

Mayor Giuliani spoke for approximately 20 minutes and then discussed his “12 Commitments to the American People,” which outlines his goals for the future should he become president.  Following his speech, he quickly moved into an extended question and answer session with the audience and fielded questions on a variety of issues including cutting taxes, availability of health care, illegal immigration, and the price of gasoline.

The crowd of mostly seniors seemed supportive and Giuliani did not have to contend with any protestors or hecklers on this stop, as opposed to some of the other previous locations along his campaign trail.

Dr. Kent Moors Kicks Off The Inaugural Speaker Series At Shell Point

FORT MYERS, Fla. (January 7, 2009) — Dr. Kent Moors, International Oil Policy and Business Expert, will launch the inaugural Speaker Series at Shell Point Retirement Community. Dr. Moors will speak on Friday, January 16, 2009 7:00 p.m. in the Village Church Auditorium. The 2009 Speaker Series at Shell Point also includes Veteran TV Journalist, and FOX News Anchor, Chris Wallace and the Shroud of Turin photographer Barrie Schwortz.
