“Our community is known for large exciting events, but when it comes to our big events the open house is the largest one of them all,” said Lynn Schneider, assistant vice president of marketing for Shell Point Retirement Community.
According to Schneider, Shell Point’s annual open house is held early each year to capitalize on the expanded winter population of Southwest Florida. This year, perfect weather and the waterfront tropical theme brought out thousands of people, most of which had never seen Shell Point before.
“Special events have to be just that – something special,” said Schneider. “Our special events team, led by Jessica Clark, spent months working on this event. This year’s theme focused on one of the unique features that Shell Point offers – waterfront lifestyle.”
Visitors had the opportunity to tour several models in all three neighborhoods – The Island, The Woodlands, and Eagles Preserve – with retirement counselors on hand to answer questions. During their visit, they could also step into one of the many informational presentations offered to learn more about the products and services available at Shell Point including information about the community’s new refundable contract and financial incentives.
The Island neighborhood offered guests the chance to stop in the park and see a live sand sculpture taking place, as well as enjoy the opportunity to visit the Shell Point Market Place. Boat rides departed every 15 minutes from the marina with Captiva Cruises and Adventures in Paradise giving boat tours of The Island neighborhood.
“The rides were a huge hit,” said Schneider. “Seeing Shell Point from the water offers an entirely different perspective.” The free boat rides helped emphasize another advantage at Shell Point – free boat dockage for life. “The free boat dock offer is a very attractive option for individuals who own a boat and want convenient access to it,” Schneider added.
The Woodlands neighborhood featured an artist on-site who created ice sculptures of angel fish and seahorses, while miniature yacht boat races took place on the lake. Along the boardwalk overlooking the lake, visitors enjoyed a lively water ski show presented by a local team of show skiers, Southern Extreme, while a group of Olympic-trained synchronized swimmers, The Dolphinets from Miami, performed at the swimming pool in brightly colored outfits to upbeat music. A health fair added to the list of things to do, allowing visitors the chance to learn more about Shell Point’s medical services while meeting the staff who oversee those areas.
“This open house was a great success and we are very pleased that so many people had the opportunity to come out and see what this community has to offer,” said Schneider. “Shell Point is such a unique place to live, with so many services and amenities. This open house was a perfect way for guests to visit the community and enjoy the lifestyle first-hand.”
