THE VILLAGE CHURCH AT SHELL POINT WELCOMES DAVID KIM AND RON MATTHEWS AS PART OF THE 2009-2010 SEASON OF PRAISE CONCERT SERIES

FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 10, 2010) — The next performance in the 2009/2010 Season of Praise Concert Series at The Village Church at Shell Point Retirement Community is David Kim, Principle Violinist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, with Ron Matthew, Pianist announced Randy Woods, minister of worship and music for The Village Church.  This concert will take place on Sunday, March 21, at 6:15pm in the Village Church Auditorium on The Island at Shell Point.

“The Season of Praise series offers uplifting and spiritual music for audiences, and I know that David Kim and Ron Matthews will offer a wonderful performance,” says Pastor Woods.  “Their experience and talents are so vast, and we are honored that they are participating in the concert series this year.”

Born in Carbondale, Illinois in 1963, David Kim started playing the violin at age three and later received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from The Juilliard School.  In 1986 he was the only American violinist to win a prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow.  David is a superb musician whose technical skillful playing creates a luscious tone which glows with old-school warmth.  He will be accompanied by acclaimed pianist, Dr. Ron Matthews, Chairman of the Music Department at Eastern University.  Their concert will include Massenet’s “Meditation from THAIS,” Brahms’ “Sonatensatz,” and selections from his latest recording, “The Lord Is My Shepherd.”
