THE SHELL POINT 2009/2010 FINE AND PERFORMING ARTS CONCERT SERIES WELCOMES ENSEMBLE GALILEI TO PERFORM

FORT MYERS, Fla. (February 24, 2010) — Ensemble Galilei will offer the next performance in the 2009/2010 Fine and Performing Arts Concert Series at Shell Point Retirement Community announced Dawn Boren, director of resident life for Shell Point Retirement Community.  Their performance will be on Friday, March 12, at 7:30pm in the Village Church Auditorium located on The Island at Shell Point.

“This performance will be very interesting for all who attend, because it incorporates music and photos to evoke emotions of awe and excitement,” said Boren.  “This is our eighth year offering the Fine and Performing Arts Concert Series, and we try to add new and interesting performers to the roster so that each year is different and meets the needs of so many different individuals who enjoy a variety of concerts.”

Ensemble Galilei performs Irish, Scottish, Early and Original music on a variety of ancient and modern instruments, including the Celtic harp, Scottish small pipes, gamba, fiddle, recorders, whistles and percussion. Their performance, First Person: Stories from the Edge of the World, is a remarkable collaboration between the National Geographic Society; NPR’s Neal Conan, host of Talk Of The Nation; and Ensemble Galilei. Spectacular photographs and images are projected on a large on-stage screen, with Neal Conan’s compelling narration, and evocative music created specifically for this project, they work seamlessly to take the audience along on some of the world’s most extraordinary expeditions.

Tickets for this concert are $35 each, and to purchase tickets or receive additional information about the concert series, please call (239) 454-2067 for payment information on individual or group packages.
