Shell Point residents raise $20,000 for annual back-to-school event

Record-breaking 950 bags of school supplies distributed to employees

FORT MYERS, Fla. (Aug. 9, 2023) – Shell Point residents raised $20,000 during the community’s 18th Annual School Supply Fund Drive to benefit employees’ children and grandchildren entering kindergarten through fifth grade.

Led by residents Manus O’Donnell and Jeanne Carguilo, the fundraising committee consulted school supply lists from local elementary schools to identify the items for this year’s bags. More than 50 volunteers worked assembly-line style over two days to fill and distribute a record-breaking 950 bags with the supplies children need for a successful school year.

“Shopping for a new school year has a major impact on the family budget,” said Jim Clark, Director of Employee Ministry. “Our employees are so grateful to receive this generous back-to-school blessing from our residents.”
