Shell Point presents 2019 Shell Point Quilt Show March 2-4

FORT MYERS, Fla. (Feb. 21, 2019) – Shell Point Retirement Community invites the public to join its 2019 Shell Point Quilt Show, “Great Expectations,” taking place from Saturday, March 2 through Monday, March 4 at Shell Point.

Hosted by the Shell Point Quilters, the biennial quilt show will showcase a beautiful display of quilts, lovingly and artistically created by residents of Shell Point. The custom creations exemplify the time-honored traditions passed from generation to generation, expressed through the detailed work of the quilters. A number of large quilts and smaller quilted items in a variety of traditional and contemporary designs will be on display and available for purchase throughout the event.

“From heirloom quilts to modern creations, the variety and workmanship will impress even experienced quilters,” said Debbie Melchi, Shell Point resident and avid quilter.

The event will also feature live entertainment by Shell Point musicians and an orchid display from Shell Point’s award-winning Orchid House. Attendees may also participate in a silent auction, placing their bids on a selection of quilted items crafted by Shell Point’s own quilters.

The three-day event will be held in the Grand Cypress Room at The Woodlands at Shell Point, 14441 Woodsong Lane in Fort Myers. Hours for each day are as follows.

  • Saturday, March 2 – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Sunday, March 3 – noon to 4 p.m.
  • Monday, March 4 – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The 2019 Shell Point Quilt Show is free and open to the public, although quilts may be purchased by cash or check only. After browsing the unique selection, guests can enjoy a meal at one of Shell Point’s six on-site public restaurants.
