Shell Point Features Presentation on Lee County Growth

FORT MYERS, FL (February 13, 2008) – The public is invited to attend an educational presentation, Implementing Regional Growth from 1968-2008, by Lee County’s Smart Growth Director Wayne Daltry at Shell Point Retirement Community on Tuesday, February 19, at 7:15 p.m.  The presentation is just one of many events being held this year as part of Shell Point’s 40th anniversary celebration.

This event is presented by the Academy at Shell Point, which offers lifelong learning opportunities to the community’s residents and guests.

“Shell Point Retirement Community has grown tremendously during the last 40 years, and so has Lee County,” said Teri Kollath, Manager of Academy and Volunteer Services.  “As we are exploring the topic of Shell Point’s history this year, we are also interested in taking an in-depth look at the growth and development of this entire region.”

Daltry has 35 years of experience and is a well-known authority on the topic of growth and development.  Prior to his current position as the Smart Growth Director of Lee County, Daltry served as the director of the Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council.

The presentation will be held in The Village Church Auditorium, which is located on The Island at Shell Point at 15000 Shell Point Boulevard.  The public is welcome to attend this presentation, and can call (239) 454-2254 with questions.
