SHELL POINT BEGINS THE 2010/2011 FINE AND PERFORMING ARTS CONCERT SERIES FORT MYERS, Fla. (October 21, 2010)

FORT MYERS, Fla. (October 21, 2010) – Shell Point Retirement Community’s ninth annual Fine and Performing Arts Concert Series Schedule is set to begin on Tuesday, November 9, with The International Chamber Soloists.  All the performances in this series will take place in the Village Church Auditorium on The Island at Shell Point, and the performers for this concert series include:

The International Chamber Soloists – Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 7:30pm

The King’s Singers – Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 7:30pm

Dallas Brass – Monday, February 14, 2011 at 7:30pm

The Four Freshmen – Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 7:30pm

Angela Brown, Soprano – Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 7:30pm

            “We are happy to be able to offer the residents at Shell Point a variety of arts and cultural concerts and performances in our community,” said Boren director of resident life for Shell Point Retirement Community.  “The 2010-2011 Fine & Performing Arts Concert Series has assembled quite a talented lineup of artists with equal parts artistic excellence, international acclaim, superb entertainment, and sense of surprise.  This is sure to be an iconic concert series, where music of the fine and performing arts is defined.”

The International Chamber Soloists – Tuesday, November 9, 2010

The International Chamber Soloists features a unique group of extraordinary young string players from all over the world.  There are musicians from Russia, Bulgaria, Belarus, Latvia, Korea, Taiwan, New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, and the United States.  It all started in the United States, when prominent violinist Dmitri Berlinsky moved from Russia to New York as a winner of Young Concert Artists and several international competitions.  While performing as soloists for major orchestras in U.S., Europe, Latin America, Asia and Australia he had a dream to establish a chamber orchestra of exceptional talented musicians.  He did just that, and today The International Chamber Soloists are a great international success.

The King’s Singers – Tuesday, December 14, 2010

This Christmas Season will feature a rare opportunity to hear a live holiday concert performance by the King’s Singers, “Still unmatched for their musicality and sheer ability to entertain”, The London Times. The 2009 Grammy Award winners The King’s Singers have put forth the highest caliber of a cappella performance since the group’s inception at King’s College, Cambridge in 1968.  The world premier men’s ensemble, The King’s Singers, delight audiences around the globe with their incomparable musicianship, charm and wit.  This concert of traditional carols and holiday music is sure to make the Christmas Season bright.

Dallas Brass – Monday, February 14, 2011

Since it’s founding in 1983 by Michael Levine, the Dallas Brass has become one of America’s foremost musical ensembles.  The group has established a unique blend of traditional brass instruments with a full complement of drums and percussion, which creates a performing entity of extraordinary range and musical challenges.  The Dallas Brass repertoire includes classical masterpieces, Dixieland, Swing, Broadway, Hollywood and patriotic music.  In addition to their solo performance, the Dallas Brass likes to inspire our youth, and have invited the Cypress Lake School for the Arts to perform with them in this concert extravaganza.  Celebrate Valentine’s Day with us, your loved ones, and the Dallas Brass!

The Four Freshmen – Thursday, March 24, 2011

The Four Freshmen will take us back to the good old school days with a vocal harmony like no other, with their four part harmony, a twist of elegance, a splash of swing and a whole lot of fun.  The exciting presentation of these consummate entertainers offers lively blended arrangements, audience pleasing charisma and humor that are sure to entertain.  As the Wall Street Journal exclaims, “Long live The Four Freshmen…May they never graduate”.  Created in 1948 at Butler University, The Four Freshmen are the longest lasting vocal harmony group.
