SHELL POINT ACADEMY CLASSES ON THE HISTORY OF THE U.S. THROUGH 1815

FORT MYERS, Fla. (May 17, 2012)

The Academy of Life Long Learning at Shell Point invites southwest Florida residents to attend a series of Academy classes focused on The History of the United States Through 1815. This series will occur over a three week time period with classes from 10am until 11:30am in the Grand Cypress Room of The Woodlands. Tickets are required to attend each session, and can be purchased for $10 each by calling (239) 489-8472. Classes will take place on Tuesday mornings, June 12, June 19, and June 26.

As we approach the annual celebration of our nation’s independence, Shell Point welcomes back Professor Adrian Kerr to take participants through a comprehensive look at the span of American History through the year 1815. It starts with the original people who settled in North America and will continue to the end of the war of 1812-1815. Each session will focus on certain parts of this history, with session one looking at the colonization, session two looking at the road to independence, and the final session detailing how the new nation emerges.

“Professor Kerr has been a part of our Academy of Lifelong Learning for several years now and always brings some of the most intriguing and informative presentations to our residents and the community,” said Teri Kollath, Manager of Academy and Volunteer Services. “He always amazes us with his expansive knowledge about so many cultures and their histories.”
