PAUL GALBRAITH WILL PERFORM AT SHELL POINT

FORT MYERS, Fla. (September 9, 2010) – On Tuesday, September 28, Shell Point Retirement Community will welcome Paul Galbraith in concert at the Church Auditorium on The Island at Shell Point. Tickets will be required to attend, and the performance begins at 7pm.

“We are pleased to welcome Paul Galbraith to Shell Point and are looking forward to an evening of exciting entertainment while he plays his eight stringed, classical guitar,” said Dawn Boren, director of resident life for Shell Point Retirement Community. “The residents here at Shell Point enjoy a variety of cultural and artistic entertainment with the many concert and speaker series we offer throughout the year, and this is considered a bonus concert, since it is in addition to the numerous concert and speaker series that are already planned.”

Internationally renowned as a brilliant innovator of the classical guitar, Paul Galbraith has been working since the 1980’s towards expanding the technical limits of his instrument, besides augmenting the quantity and quality of its repertoire. These efforts have already resulted in a series of critically acclaimed recordings of works by Bach, Haydn, and Brahms, along with his own arrangements of folk tunes from various countries, all of which demonstrate the originality of his musical personality. By exchanging the traditional guitar for the eight string Brahmas Guitar, which he helped to develop, Galbraith found the ideal instrument with which to interpret the challenging classical transcriptions from his highly personal repertoire.

Tickets for this concert are $15 each, and the proceeds benefit the Rehabilitation Facility being added to the Larsen Pavilion Skilled Nursing. To purchase tickets, or receive additional information about this concert or other concert series, please call (239) 454-2067.
