FINAL CONCERT IN SHELL POINT’S SECOND ANNUAL SUMMER CONCERT SERIES

FORT MYERS, Fla. (July 25, 2011) – The 2011 Summer Music Concert Series at Shell Point Retirement Community will present Reiko and Friends as its final concert of the season. This performance will take place on Thursday, August 18, at 7:30pm and is open to the general public.
“This was our second year offering a summer concert series, and it has proven to be another great success,” says Dawn Boren, Director of Resident Life. “Even though many people leave for the summer months, there are many who live in southwest Florida year round, and this is something that local residents seem to really appreciate. This musical series has received rave reviews from Shell Point and Southwest Florida residents who enjoy the variety of performances in the slower season.”

Reiko is a native of Tokyo, Japan and attended the prestigious Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music, where she received her bachelor’s degree in violin performance. Following her graduation, Reiko came to the United States and continued her training at the celebrated University Jacobs School of Music, where she studied under world renowned Italian violinist Franco Gulli.

In 1982 Reiko moved to Ft. Myers to begin her career as the Concert Master of the Southwest Florida Symphony. Reiko has served as concert master for six orchestras and became one of the most prominent freelance violinists in the county. Reiko and friends will present a concert of both classical and popular favorites.

Tickets are on sale now and can be bought for $15. To purchase tickets for this concert, or receive information about future concerts, please call (239) 454-2067 or visit our website our concert series page at http://www.shellpoint.org/concerts/summer/.
