Shell Point’s 2018-2019 Fine and Performing Arts Series welcomes ‘The Golden Years of Broadway’ Nov. 15


CUTLINE: Shell Point Retirement Community continues its 2018-2019 Fine and Performing Arts Series with “The Golden Years of Broadway” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15.

 FORT MYERS, Fla. (Nov. 5, 2018) – Shell Point Retirement Community kicks off the Performing Arts program of its 2018-2019 Fine and Performing Arts Series with “The Golden Years of Broadway” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15 at The Village Church auditorium on The Island at Shell Point, 15100 Shell Point Blvd. in Fort Myers. Tickets for this event cost $40 and can be purchased online at or by phone at 239-454-2067.

Join Broadway Pops veterans Jennifer Hope Wills, Sean MacLaughlin and Rob Gallagher, with New York City-based orchestrator and arranger Ryan Shirar, as they bring “The Golden Years of Broadway” to life. The musical group will include hit songs that set the standards for American musical theater, like, “Oklahoma! South Pacific,” “The King & I and “The Sound of Music.”

Throughout the performance, Broadway Pops will captivate audiences with their entertaining and innovative production and more than 10 hit classics from the 1940s and 1950s era.

Shell Point’s Gulf Coast Model Railroad opens for season  



FORT MYERS, Fla. (Nov. 1, 2018)Shell Point Retirement Community is pleased to announce the reopening of its popular Gulf Coast Model Railroad attraction on Monday, Nov. 5. Free tours are open to the public from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday through April 2019.

Modeled in the shape of Florida, the 43′-by-41′ Gulf Coast Model Railroad is set in the 1950s and 1960s, offering guests a unique perspective of notable sites throughout state. The model railroad display features several running trains and hundreds of recognizable miniature geographic landmarks, such as Tallahassee’s old Capitol Building, Pensacola freight yards, the Gainesville Gator Bowl, Walt Disney World, Kennedy Space Center with an orbiting Space Shuttle, Everglades, Sanibel Lighthouse, and even Shell Point Retirement Community.
