The 8TH Annual Charity Shell Point Open Focuses on Patriotic Theme

There is still time to sign up for sponsorships and for golfers for the “Red, White and Blue Scramble”, Shell Point’s 8th annual charity Shell Point Open Golf Tournament. This year the tournament takes place on Friday, November 11, 2011, at the Shell Point Golf Club in Fort Myers announced Timothy Stephenson, Executive Director of the Legacy Foundation at Shell Point. The tournament, presented by The Legacy Foundation, will raise funds for the not-for-profit Waterside Medical Complex which offers medical and healthcare services to residents of Shell Point and the surrounding local community. This complex includes the Larsen Pavilion, a 219 bed skilled nursing facility, a state-of-art rehabilitation center, and many more healthcare services.

THE VILLAGE CHURCH AT SHELL POINT ANNOUNCES THE 2011-2012 SEASON OF PRAISE CONCERT SERIES

SHELL POINT HOSTS A FREE OPEN HOUSE FOR THE PUBLIC

Public Invited to Learn About Benefits and Amenities of Shell Point Retirement Community

FORT MYERS, Fla. (October 17, 2011) – Shell Point Retirement Community will host a Fall Open House on Thursday, October 27, from Noon to 4 pm. This event is free and open to the public.

Story Photo“Shell Point is such a unique place to live, we want to invite the public to come out and learn more about the lifestyle we have to offer,” said Lynn Schneider, assistant vice president of marketing and communications for Shell Point. The Fall Open House will offer visitors the chance to view two of the three neighborhoods that make up Shell Point Retirement Community. Seminars, tours, and entertainment have been planned for that afternoon; and buses will provide transportation to all events and locations throughout the community.

FORT MYERS, Fla. (October 10, 2011) –  The Village Church at Shell Point Retirement Community has announced the speaker for its annual fall event, the World Focus Weekend. This year, the speaker will be Stuart McAllister, who serves as a key member with Ravi Zacharias International Ministries. The event will be held on November 4 – 6, and is entitled “Global Perspectives for the 21st Century.” The times and topics are as follows:

SHELL POINT’S KAREN ANDERSON RECOGNIZED AS STATE HR PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR

FORT MYERS, Fla. (October 6, 2011) – Karen Anderson, SPHR, human resources director for Shell Point Retirement Community has been recognized as the 2011 HR Professional of the Year by her peers in the Human Resources Florida State Council. This annual award recognizes a human resource leader who has advanced the profession in a significant way, serves as a role model for the profession, and enhances the effectiveness of their organization.
Story PhotoShell Point is home to about 2,300 residents, and is one of the largest continuing care retirement communities in the country. With more than 900 employees, Shell Point is currently one of the top 25 employers in Lee County, sitting in the 11th spot.

Anderson joined the HR department of Shell Point in 1996 and was named Director in 2001. During this time, the Shell Point employee population grew from 425 to more than 900. In her past fifteen years with the organization, she has managed a variety of important issues including the formation of a number of employee assistance programs such as special assistance for employees following Hurricane Charley, and support for Haitian employees and their families following the devastating earthquake in 2010.

SHELL POINT RESIDENT FEATURED ON THE COVER OF SENIORS BLUE BOOK

FORT MYERS, Fla. (October 3, 2011) – Shell Point Retirement Community resident, Frankie Rad, was featured on the cover of the bi-annual Seniors Blue Book for Southwest Florida. The current publication, which covers September 2011 through to February 2012, offers great stories and information to seniors looking for housing and resources in Lee and Collier Counties.Story Photo

Rad, who is 92 years young and has lived at Shell Point for 18 years, is just one of the more than 2,000 very active individuals at Shell Point. She is an amazing wife and mother, and for decades always hoped that she would one day learn how to fly. The article in the current Senior Blue book goes into great detail on how she worked towards and accomplished her dream of flying.
