HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY INVITATIONAL TO BE HELD AT SHELL POINT GOLF CLUB

(August 31, 2011) – On Saturday, September 10, Shell Point Golf Club will welcome participants for the 1st Annual 9-11 Memorial Invitational to run through the golf course in various categories. SHELL POINT PRESENTS ITS FIFTH ANNUAL SOUTHWEST FLORIDA SYMPHONY SERIES

FORT MYERS, Fla. (August 26, 2011) – The Southwest Florida Symphony will visit Shell Point Retirement Community once again, offering three concerts as part of the fifth annual Southwest Florida Symphony Concert Series hosted by the community according to Dawn Boren, director of resident life. Two of the concert performances can be purchased as a package deal for $32. Those two are Schumann and Brahms on November 7, 2011 and Bruch and Beethoven on March 23, 2012. Tickets for them as individual concerts would be $20 each. An additional concert, Timeless Treasure – Holiday Pops, will take place on December 19, 2011 with tickets available for $25.Story Photo

SHELL POINT ACADEMY OFFERS CLASS ON THE CIA AND US MILITARY TERRORIST DETENTION PROGRAMS

(August 24, 2011) – The Academy at Shell Point invites the public to attend a presentation led by Tom Eastwood, a consultant, lecturer, and “edutainer” analyzing the CIA and US Military Terrorist Detention Programs. This event will take place on Monday, September 12 from 1:00pm-2:30pm, in the Grand Cypress Room at The Woodlands in Shell Point Retirement Community. The Community Thrift Store Offers 50% Off All Clothing Items in September!

FORT MYERS, Fla. (August 23, 2011) –  The Community Thrift Store in south Ft. Myers has had great sales since it opened in July, and will offer 50% off all clothing items during the month of September.Story Photo “The first few months of operation for the Thrift Store have certainly been very successful,” said Debbie Zeis, manager of the Community Thrift Store. “Local residents have embraced this new opportunity and loved the results of great buys! We have had amazing support in donations as well, so we wanted to share the generosity of the community and offer our men’s and women’s clothing items at 50% off all month in September.”

The Community Thrift Store is located next to Planet Fitness in the Miner’s Plaza on the corner of McGregor and Gladiolus (in the old Kiwanis Thrift Store location). The store is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All are welcome to shop as well as make donations. Proceeds from the store will be used to help provide services to meet the needs of seniors in our area.
