FORT MYERS, Fla. (February 22, 2011) – The annual Shell Point Art Show and Sale is schedule to take place on March 4, 5, and 6 in the Social Center on The Island. The Resident Art Show Committee invites the public to view the artwork created by many of the talented artists who live in the retirement community at Shell Point. The show runs from 9am to 4pm on March 4 and 5, and then from noon to 3pm on March 6. “The art show has always been a popular event that allows the public a chance to view and purchase original works of art created by Shell Point residents throughout the year,” said Suzanne Bennett, Shell Point resident and Art Show Coordinator. “We look forward to welcoming everyone to visit with us during the show and get a glimpse of the work created by the many talented artists in our community.”

FORT MYERS, Fla. (February 15, 2011) – Shell Point Retirement Community will welcome Professor Adrien Kerr back to the community to discuss the current situation in Egypt and how the country has arrived to its state today. The presentation will take place on Friday, March 4, in the Village Church Auditorium on The Island at 7:15pm. “We have all watched the situation unfold in Cairo Egypt and Professor Kerr will be able to shed some light on the background and history of how the country got to this point,” said Teri Kollath, Academy/Volunteer Manager for Shell Point Retirement Community. “Professor Kerr has visited Shell Point many times to speak about the Middle East and he has always offered great insight into those regions of the world, and we are looking forward to having him back on campus.”

FORT MYERS, Fla. (February 11, 2011) – Shell Point Retirement Community will open its doors for a Tropical Extravaganza Open House on Thursday, February 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine. This event is free and open to the public. The theme of this open house, Tropical Extravaganza, focuses on the unique waterfront lifestyle that Shell Point can offer residents, along with the security of lifecare. A few of the attractions on property for the day include a live water ski show, synchronized swimming show, Polynesian dancing show, craft bazaar, farmer’s market, model train room display, and more. There will be refreshments, door prizes, demonstrations, a health fair, and boat ride tours around The Island at Shell Point. Guests will also have the opportunity to take self-guided tours of the community, and visit several decorated models.

FORT MYERS, Fla. (February 11, 2011) – The Village Church at Shell Point Retirement Community will welcome The National Christian Choir, with Dr. C. Harry Causey, to perform on February 19 and 20 announced Randy Woods, minister of worship and music for the Village Church at Shell Point. This concert is part of the 2010/2011 Season of Praise concert series, and tickets are still available.
“We are very excited to welcome The National Christian Choir and Dr. Causey to Shell Point for this performance,” says Randy Woods, minister of worship and music for The Village Church. “We had planned to have them perform last year, but the bitter cold storms prevented them from making the trip, so we are very excited to have them here this year.
