Shell Point’s 2017-2018 Concert Series presents “All is Calm” Dec. 7

FORT MYERS, Fla. (Nov. 15, 2017) – Shell Point Retirement Community is kicking off the Performing Arts program of its 2017-2018 Concert Series with a theatrical concert, “All is Calm,” taking place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7 at the Village Church on The Island at Shell Point. The event is open to the public, with tickets available for purchase online at www.shellpoint.org/concerts or by phone at 239-454-2067.

“All is Calm” highlights the true events of the Christmas Truce of 1914, where Allied and German soldiers along the Western Front stopped fighting and celebrated Christmas together, spending the day sharing small gifts and playing each other in football matches. Vexed by the grinding and dull horror of trench warfare, both sides found comradeship together, defying orders against fraternization.

Written by playwright Peter Rothstein, with musical arrangements by Ericke Lichte and Timothy Takach, the performance features a variety of patriotic and sentimental tunes, depicting the night of camaraderie, music and peace on Christmas of 1914.
