FORT MYERS, Fla. (December 28, 2017) – Shell Point Retirement Community’s 2017-2018 Concert Series welcomes Southwest Florida Symphony to the stage for a “For the Love of Beethoven” concert performance, beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11 at the Village Church on The Island at Shell Point. Maestro Nir Kabaretti leads the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra in a performance that focuses exclusively on Beethoven’s compositions. During the performance, the audience will enjoy clear musical references to Beethoven’s predecessors in “Symphony No. 1,” particularly his teachers Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. “Piano Concerto No. 5” is popularly known as the “Emperor Concerto,” and was Beethoven’s last piano concerto.

The Symphony will be joined by Peruvian-born pianist Priscilla Navarro for this performance. At Florida Gulf Coast University, she received the Steinway Piano Society, Gomez, and Williams scholarships. Since then, Priscilla has performed across the United States, South America, Italy and Poland.

Born in Boston, Drachman studied at the Peabody Conservatory of Music and the New England Conservatory of Music. Since graduating from the Curtis Institute of Music in 1998, Drachman has appeared regularly as a soloist with orchestras, as well as giving recitals and chamber music performances across the United States. Internationally, he has performed in India, Great Britain, Sweden, Italy and Canada, also touring the Far East as a soloist with the Chinese-American Symphony during recitals in Hong Kong and Macau.

For this performance, Drachman will be accompanied by Victor Santiago Asuncion on the piano. Victor serves on the chamber music faculty of the Aspen Music Festival and School.
