SHELL POINT INVITES SOUTHWEST FLORIDA TO VIEW PHOTO SHOW

FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 28, 2011) – The annual Shell Point Photo Show will be open to the public for viewing Monday through Friday from April 25 through April 29. The display will be inside the Resident Activity Center located on The Island at Shell Point Retirement Community from 9am to 3pm on these dates.

“The photos that Shell Point residents have submitted are truly amazing,” said Frank Moore, Shell Point resident and Photo Show Coordinator. “The entries range from photos of pets to the abstract, and some have even been taken with simple point- and-shoot cameras. Photography is just one of the many ways residents show their creativity and unique eye for beauty.”

SHELL POINT ENCHANTED GARDEN FASHION SHOW OFFERED FUN AND FASHION FOR A SOLD OUT CROWD!

FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 24, 2011) – More than 500 guests enjoyed the afternoon festivities at Shell Point’s Enchanted Garden Fashion Show which raised more than $5,000 to provide compassionate care for seniors with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
This year’s theme, Enchanted Garden, was a perfect way to show off the various spring and summer fashions while promoting the Bell Tower Shops. Several stores in Bell Tower participated, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Talbots, Cache, Draper’s and Damon’s, Swim and Sport, Banana Republic, Patchington’s, Trader Rick’s, and SOMA.

“The Shell Point and Bell Tower Shops Fashion Show has always been a popular event for our residents and guests,” said Lynn Schneider, assistant vice president of sales and marketing for the resort community. “This year we added the element of a boutique for guests to shop before and after the show, and it was a hit! Local vendors brought unique and exquisite items for guests to browse over and purchase, which included spa products, jewelry and clothing.”

SHELL POINT INVITES SOUTHWEST FLORIDA TO ATTEND QUILT SHOW

FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 23, 2011) – The annual Shell Point Quilt Show will be open to the public again this year, for the second time since it began 27 years ago. This show will take place from Saturday, April 9, through Monday, April 11. The resident Quilters Committee invites the public to view the many sizes and varieties of hand crafted quilts on display, including quilts based on the Americana theme.Story Photo “This year’s event will be spectacular,” said Jean Arndt, Shell Point resident and Quilt Show Chairperson. “We are inviting the public to view heirloom quilts on loan, quilters’ demonstrations, and new quilts focused on an Americana theme.” Jean Arndt adds, “We are also encouraging the public to vote for our quilters’ challenge winner!”

THE FOUR FRESHMEN COME TO SHELL POINT Public Invited to this Performance from the 2010-2011 Fine and Performing Arts Concert Series

SHELL POINT WELCOMES THE SANIBEL BIG ARTS COMMUNITY BAND

FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 7, 2011) – Shell Point Retirement Community will welcome the Sanibel Big Arts Community Band to perform on Monday, March 28, 2011 at 7:00pm. Tickets are required and the concert will take place in the Village Church Auditorium on The Island at Shell Point.

“We are looking forward to having the Sanibel Big Arts Community Band here because so many of our residents enjoy this group,” said Melody Desilets, program coordinator for Shell Point Retirement Community. “Shell Point is so close to Sanibel Island, and quite a few of our residents called Sanibel home prior to their move to Shell Point. The relationship between Sanibel and Shell Point residents is very strong, and this performance will offer both residents the chance to mix and mingle while enjoying superb entertainment.”
