FORT MYERS, Fla. (September 17, 2008) — Mark Tesoro, MA, recently joined the Shell Point Memory Care department as the Program Manager according to Steve Minniear, Vice President of Healthcare Services for Shell Point Retirement Community.
Shell Point’s Memory Care Center, located in the Larsen Pavilion, dedicates an entire floor of resources to patients in need of these services. Therapeutic recreation programs are tailored to strengthen both mind and body. Those with early-stage memory loss reside in a separate area, so that they may enjoy the highest degree of independence possible. With a staff of five full-time physicians, two nurse practitioners, 66 licensed nurses, 89 certified nursing assistants, and a myriad of other health care professionals including social workers and therapists, Shell Point focuses on exceeding the expectations of care and services that are offered. Shell Point is working at the forefront of healthcare with local community groups, and making advances in the field, which ensures that patients in the Larsen Pavilion receive the best care available.

(September 5, 2008) — The Southwest Florida Symphony will perform two concerts at Shell Point Retirement Community in the second annual Southwest Florida Symphony Concert Series hosted by the community according to Dawn Boren, director of resort services. This series will feature two concerts including:
200 Voices in Song — Sunday, October 26, 2008 4:00 p.m. Cost $18
Southwest Florida Symphony Chorus of Fort Myers and Sarasota’s Key Chorale combine their 200+ voices to present an awe-inspiring concert of American choral music. This will be your only opportunity to hear these preeminent choirs in concert together before they embark on a summer 2009 European Tour to France and Italy. Joseph Caulkins, Conductor and director has planned a wonderful program. It will highlight music by American composers Randall Thompson, Morten Lauridsen, Samuel Barber, and Mack Wilberg.
