With the unpredictable nature of hurricanes, Floridians need to be prepared. While the hope is always that the area would be spared a major landfall, good preparation is the key to weathering any storm.
If a hurricane threatens the area, Shell Point residents have the benefit of on-site safety in the hurricane shelter located on The Island. Shell Point executes a detailed hurricane plan each year on behalf of its residents, and some of the advance preparations may be useful to other members of the Southwest Florida community.
Review Shell Point’s hurricane tips in the May 2015 issue of Shell Point Life magazine. The article shares must-have items for a personal hurricane kit, suggestions for pre-hurricane shopping and stocking up, and ideas when planning for the care of a beloved pet.
