Back Pain

Did you know that 80% of adults suffer from lower back pain at some point in their lives? While not all back pain is preventable, with a few small changes you may be able to reduce pain. Don’t let back pain rule your life! Keep these tips in mind to minimize pain and avoid muscle aches.

  • Sit smart. Use a chair with lumbar support and keep both feet flat on the floor.
  • Be active. Exercising on a regular basis can help build muscle and improve balance to prevent back pain.
  • Stand up and stretch. Sitting for long periods of time can be a major cause of back pain and muscle fatigue. Get up and walk around for a few minutes during the day.
  • Sleep right. A mattress that is too soft doesn’t provide enough stability for your back. Use a medium to firm mattress for the best back support.

Be sure to consult your doctor about any pain you may be feeling to rule out a serious injury.

If you are still experiencing back pain, you may benefit from a relaxing massage at the Shell Point Salon & Spa with a licensed massage therapist. Or, consider rehabilitative services at the Larsen Pavilion’s Rehabilitation Center. To find out more, call (239) 454-2256.
