Kenneth Nesselroade came to The Village Church in October 2000 as Associate Minister for Pastoral Care. Upon Dr. James Davey’s retirement, 1-1/2 years later, he was called to be Senior Pastor. He is responsible for under shepherding the various ministries of The Village Church and caring for the spiritual needs of the Shell Point Retirement Community. Ken also serves as the lead preaching pastor.
Ken and Elaine (Champion) were married in June 1965. They have two married sons; Paul and his wife Cheryl and Daniel and his wife Marcy. They also have six grandchildren.
Ken was heavily influenced toward the ministry by his father who was an ordained minister of the Evangelical United Brethren Church. After graduation from Kentucky Mountain Bible College and later Asbury College, Ken and Elaine pastored 4 years in Margate, NJ at Trinity United Methodist Church. In 1972, Ken and Elaine transitioned to the Christian & Missionary Alliance and served pastorates in Ypsilanti, MI (5 years); Marion, OH (16 years); Oklahoma City, OK ( 7 years) and Ft. Myers, FL (9 years).
Although Ken has been Senior Pastor in each of the churches he has served throughout his ministry, his greatest love is pastoral care. Consequently, he has drawn around him a remarkable staff of individuals who provide the spiritual care this growing community needs. He finds it immensely rewarding to accompany people on their spiritual journeys and to assist them toward a closer relationship with God and with others.
