The Village Church Ministries

The ministries of The Village Church at Shell Point encourage spiritual growth and provide opportunities to share gifts and talents for the glory of God.

WORSHIP
Choir The Sanctuary Choir, consisting of more than 90 voices, shares in the ministry of song during weekly and holiday worship services. The choir also works with local musicians and guest artists to present several concerts throughout the year.

The Celebration Ringers, a three-octave English handbell ensemble, adds inspirational music to worship services and holiday events.

Season of Praise Concerts are held throughout the season. This concert series provides the highest level of sacred artistic expression and has featured artists such as Diane Bish, Steve Green, The King's Brass, Ballet Magnificat, Tenore, Cynthia Clawson, Rachel Park, and Joel Raney. Chorale groups also visit every year, including Wheaton College, Indiana Wesleyan and Moody in recent years.

Vesper Services at the assisted living facilities and at the Larsen Pavilion (skilled nursing facility) are an extension of the corporate worship service for those unable to attend services at the church.

Shell Point Television broadcasts The Sunday Morning Worship Service live on SPTV Channel 12, enabling residents to participate in the ministry even when they cannot attend the service. The sermons from both Sunday services are available at www.VillageChurchMedia.com. The Sunday morning service is rebroadcast on SPTV Channel 12 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:00 am, 4:00 pm, and 8:00 pm

COMMUNITY
Fellowship Alpha - The Alpha Course is an in-depth overview of the basic beliefs of Christianity. It provides an opportunity to explore what you believe and to ask questions about faith and spiritual issues. Over the course of twelve weeks, a thorough presentation of Christian doctrines is given and a bond of friendship emerges as individuals interact about these powerful truths. The course is traditionally offered beginning in January.

Christian Life Studies - These Sunday morning Bible studies target various topics designed to deepen our faith and equip us to serve others.

Chaplaincy - The Village Church supports employee and health care chaplains to provide non-denominational spiritual care to employees and residents in the assisted living and skilled nursing facilities of The Shell Point Retirement Community.

Journey through Grief - This bereavement support group is designed for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one and deals with the emotion and the realities of grief in an encouraging and helpful group setting.

Library - Our church library contains a treasure trove of reference books, study books, biographies, fictional books, DVDs, and audio CDs. All of these items, including recordings of the Sunday morning worship service, are available for use.

Small Groups - Friendship groups build community by providing opportunities for mutual encouragement, prayer, Bible study and spiritual growth.

Stamp Ministry - Since 1972, by processing and selling used stamps to stamp dealers around the world, the stamp ministry has raised over $900,000 for the publication of Spanish Sunday School curriculum for children in need primarily in South America. The Stamp Room in the Island Activities Tunnel is frequently filled with volunteers joining together to clip and sort stamps and enjoy time together.

Women's Ministries - Led by women from the church but not necessarily ‘for women only,’ Women’s Ministries provides a creative multifaceted approach to ministering within Shell Point and in our broader community. Focusing on prayer, fellowship, Bible study and outreach, these women are facilitating genuine encounters with God in unique and compelling ways. Weekly Bible studies are hosted weekly every fall and spring. Monthly Global Outreach meetings are opportunities to host a variety of speakers representing both local and international ministries. Weekly prayer groups gather to pray for the needs of our international workers. English as a second language classes are provided for Shell Point employees. Every year Women’s Ministries raises awareness and funds for a timely and specific international missions program or project.

MISSIONS
Frequent updates from international workers serve to keep a strong missions’ focus at the heart of Village Church ministry.
Bible Study Global Impact Week - Each January a week long missions program provides personal opportunities to interact with workers from around the world and to deepen commitment to the Great Commission. Global Impact Week includes lectures, worship services, and fellowship opportunities both large and small.

Fall Missions Focus - We give attention to a specific timely mission opportunity each Fall which includes hearing from International Workers currently serving in the field.

International Worker in Residence - Whenever possible, Shell Point and The Village Church combine to sponsor International Workers while they are working back in the states before returning overseas. These workers richly add to the life of the church and Shell Point community through a variety of speaking and ministerial activities.
