2009 SHELL POINT OPEN GOLF TOURNAMENT
RAISES MONEY TO BENEFIT THE REHABILITATION CENTER
FORT MYERS, FL (November 20, 2009) ) –The sixth annual Shell Point Open Golf Tournament, presented by the Legacy Foundation at Shell Point, was held this year to raise funds for the Rehabilitation Center located on The Island at Shell Point, which offers rehabilitation services to individuals in the Southwest Florida area. The tournament was held on Friday, November 13, 2009, at the Shell Point Golf Club in Fort Myers, and raised more than $20,000 for the cause, announced Timothy Stephenson, Executive Director of the Legacy Foundation at Shell Point.
The funds raised from this tournament will help with the upcoming completion of the Rehabilitation Center, as well as contribute to purchasing any new or updated products and technology that can assist in making rehabilitation a faster and smoother process for those who need it.
“The Rehab Center at Shell Point can be used by anyone in our community, no matter what your age or injury may be,” said Stephenson. “Sometimes individuals need to utilize the Rehab Center due to a recent surgery in which they need to recover by using therapy, or in some cases, an ailment that is long-term, but can be rehabilitated with the most up to date products and technology.”
The tournament hosted more than 100 participants and many volunteers, who all wanted to raise money to help keep the Rehab Center on the cutting edge of technology. Timothy Stephenson, executive director of The Legacy Foundation, thanked the sponsors, participants, and volunteers for their outstanding support of this worthwhile cause.
The event was broadly supported by The Scoggins/Moreland Group at UBS Financial, as well as many other businesses in the Fort Myers community. “'We were delighted to once again sponsor the Shell Point Open, said Moreland. “The weather was gorgeous, the course was in fantastic shape, and everyone who played had fun; but more importantly, the Rehabilitation Center at Shell Point was blessed with much needed funding to continue to help the residents at Shell Point and our community who are recovering from injuries. We can't think of a better way to make a difference in our community.”
