SHELL POINT CONCERTS AND CONVERSATIONS SERIES OPENS TO THE PUBLIC
FORT MYERS, FL (October 21, 2009) - he Concert and Conversation Series will be open to the public for the first time since it began four years ago announced Dawn Boren, director of resident life for Shell Point Retirement Community. This series will feature four concerts, and following each concert participants will enjoy a beverage and dessert reception with the performers.
The list of performers includes:
“The Concert and Conversations Series has been an event that residents have enjoyed for several years, and this is the first year that we decided to open it up for the general public to enjoy,” said Boren. “This series is very unique and different than the others offered here at Shell Point, because with this concert series, audience members are able to mingle with the artists at the end of the performance.”
- Svetlana Strezeva, Soprano with Milana Strezeva, Pianist – Friday, November 20, 2009 at 7:00pm
- Konstantin Soukhovetski, Pianist – Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 7:00pm
- Reiko, Violinist and Friends– Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 7:00pm
- Ashu, Saxophone (Pianist, Kuang-Hao Huang) – Friday, March 26, 2010 at 7:00pm
Reservations are required to attend any of the concerts in this series, and series price for all 4 concerts is $80, while individual tickets are $25 each. Svetlana Strezeva, Soprano and Milana Strezeva, Pianist, - Friday, November 20, 2009 – 7:00 p.m.
Svetlana Strezeva is a prominent Russian born American soprano. She is a Laureate of the P. Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow and M. Glinka Vocal International Competition in Minsk. Svetlana did her professional studies at La Scala in Milan, Italy, under the guidance of Opera Diva G. Simionato. Mne. Strezeva was Prima Donna of the Moldova National Opera Company. She has sung leading roles with touring opera companies in all major cities and recorded with numerous orchestras and symphonies. She has been praised as “The Great Russian Nightingale” by Russia’s St. Petersburg Press.
Milana Strezeva is a Moldovan-American Pianist who has studied piano since the age of six. She is a recipient of the Arts Recognition and Talent Search award and winner of the Young Artist Competition and Yamaha Piano Competition. In 1998, Milana won the IBLA International Competition as a vocal collaborator that led to her debut recital at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Her major chamber music appearances include performances in prominent halls across the United States. She currently is a member of the award winning Manhattan Piano Trio. She has completed her Bachelors and Masters from Juilliard.
Konstantin Soukhovetski, Pianist - Tuesday, January 5, 2010 – 7:00 p.m.
Konstantin Soukhovetski is a laureate of major competitions, including World piano competition, Naumburg, Cleveland and Juilliard competitions. His recent seasons highlights include recitals in Amman, Jordan and Beirut, Lebanon; Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall; Pro Arte Musical, San Juan, Puerto Rico; Rockefeller University, NYC, Kent State University to name a few. He also played with the Cleveland Orchestra, Austin Symphony, MN with Steven Ramsey and Hilton Head Orchestra with Mary Woodnansee Gien.
Reiko, Violinist and Friends - Thursday, February 18, 2010 – 7:00 p.m.
Reiko is a native of Tokyo, Japan and attended the prestigious Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music, where she received her bachelor’s degree in violin performance. Following her graduation, Reiko came to the United States and continued her training at the celebrated University Jacobs School of Music, where she studied under world renowned Italian violinist Franco Gulli.
In 1982, Reiko moved to Fort Myers and began her career as the Concertmaster of the Southwest Florida Symphony. Reiko served as concertmaster for 6 orchestras, and became one of the most prominent freelance violinists in the country. This concert will feature Reiko and friends from the symphony who will take you on a quick trip around the world.
Ashu, Saxophone (Pianist: Kuang – Hao Huang) - Friday, March 26, 2010 – 7:00 p.m.
Ashu was born and raised in California and started playing the saxophone at age ten. He soon began entering competitions and found himself receiving a wide range of opportunities and made his debut, at Carnegie Hall’s, Weill Hall, and his concert debut at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.. Since then his solo performances have taken him to Norway, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, Portugal, West Indies and USA.
He tours regularly with renowned orchestras throughout the U.S. and Europe including, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Metropolitan Orchestra of Lisbon, and venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Vienna Konzerthaus.
