FORT MYERS, FL - Shell Point is expanding its emphasis in the area of arts and culture by launching its own concert series. The 2003 Shell Point Concert Series will feature four exciting performances by top professional musicians, including two in partnership with the Southwest Florida Symphony.
"Our residents have always had a passion or interest in the cultural and performing arts," said Dawn Boren, director of resort services. "For many years, The Village Church has offered wonderful concerts of spiritual music, and they will continue this year. By adding the Shell Point Concert Series, we are able to expand the musical offerings to our community to include several new classical performances. Residents will have even more opportunities to enjoy quality musical programs and wonderful, professional entertainment right here in their own backyard!"

Feel the brilliance of Bach and sons! Johann Sebastian Bach, one of the most beloved composers of all time, was also the proud father of twenty children. Tonight we delight, with Johann's Magnificat and works by three of his brilliantly talented sons. The Southwest Florida Symphony Chamber Chorus joins us for this exceptional evening of music from Classical's first family of music!
Since its formation in 1976 as ensemble-in-residence at the University of Akron, Solaris has established a reputation as one of the foremost woodwind quintets in the United States and abroad. Each member is a superb instrumentalist in their own right, but when the five are combined - flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, and French horn - the result is a remarkable mix of classical interpretations, from "ars nova" to "avant garde." "I was blown away by a wind quintet," said Donald Rosenberg, music critic for the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
You will be intrigued and captivated by this blend of both original and transcribed master works for violin and piano, duo violin, saxophone and piano, and trio. The Cleveland Duo consists of Carolyn Gadiel Warner (pianist and violinist) and Stephen Warner (violinist), both from The Cleveland Orchestra. Joined by classical saxophonist James Umble, this trio has given acclaimed performances throughout south Florida and the Midwest, as well as on National Public Radio.
Feel the breeze in this soft, gentle night of music. With Berlioz's Nuit d'ete, you'll be carried above the clouds by the heavenly voice of mezzo soprano Audrey Babcock. You'll think you are floating off your seat with Mozart's soothing Symphony No. 25 in G minor. Join us for this intimate night of music and escape! |
